Small Coffee Makers Help Subsidize Coffee Growers
Welcome to the Small Coffee Maker site. Come in. Relax, Stay for a while. While you're at it, enjoy a fresh cup of coffee before you're ready to buy.
What does it take to plop your hard-earned money on the counter to buy a one cup coffee maker or a sister two cup coffee maker? First it takes a decision on your part. You may think it’s a bad idea all the way around. You may think that the extra expense is not worth the added benefit. You may even believe that you no longer are affected by caffeine and can quit anytime. That’s a good one; I’ll have to remember that one. It would be my number one reason for not purchasing a quality home coffee maker. And I’d be wrong not to purchase one. Here’s why.
Giving up coffee is like giving up smoking, chewing tobacco, drinking, snorting, and inhaling at the same time, only it’s harder to do. I’ll be the first to admit that it can be done but not without a lot of what they call “will power.” Right. Those who preach the will power gig are the same people who are rail-thin and saying they used to be 700 lbs but will power helped them to the 120 they now weight. Those who believe those stories are delusion and in need of some serious counseling.
When you embark on giving up coffee or caffeine (since I have no use for decaf), you will encounter throbbing headaches that accompany caffeine withdrawal. You’ll be irritable and grouchy too for a long time. So, go ahead, give up the addiction but be prepared for the after effects.
But none hits the heart worse than realizing that you will no longer be subsidizing bean farmers in Colombia, Kenya, or Sumatra. How will they possibly survive? How will their children make it without your contribution to their well-being in the form of coffee and coffee bean purchases. Your addiction feeds his family. Perhaps that’s the real reason you haven’t quit yet: you want to still lend a hand. That’s mighty noble of you.
